Designed with XpresHAn Technology, Restylane Defyne helps to soften laugh lines (nasolabial folds and marionette lines). It is a next-generation hyaluronic acid dermal filler that helps support your skin. Its innovative cross-linking technology restores a more youthful appearance.
How is the Restylane Defyne Procedure Performed?
Before administering any injectable filler treatment, your provider will perform a consultation where we will go over your aging concerns, expectations, and medical history. After determining that you are a good candidate for treatment, we will schedule your Restylane Defyne procedure. Topical numbing or ice may be used, but isn’t necessary as the injectable filler contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic. Your provider will perform a series of injections using a fine-gauge needle into the treatment area. They will then mold and shape the filler for best results. After treatment, ice can be applied to help with swelling.
How Does Restylane Defyne Work?
Restylane Defyne is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel that provides smooth results in the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Galderma’s XpresHAn technology customizes the hyaluronic acid particles to cross-link with each other, providing a degree of flexibility and smoothness not found in many other fillers.
How Long Do the Results of a Restylane Defyne Treatment Last?
No two patients are alike, and everyone metabolizes injectables differently. However, during clinical trials, the results of Restylane Defyne lasted up to 12 months in over 65% of patients. Over 70% of patients continued to see results after 6 months.
Am I a Candidate for Restylane Defyne?
Restylane Defyne is FDA-approved for anyone 21 and over who have mild-to-moderate wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth. If you have nasolabial folds and marionette lines that bother you, and you’re in relatively good health, then you are likely a candidate for treatment.
Patients with severe allergies, a history of anaphylaxis, or who are allergic to ingredients in Restylane Defyne should not receive treatment. Women who are pregnant or nursing should also avoid dermal filler treatments. Certain medications may also prohibit the use of Defyne; this is why it’s important to give your provider a full medical history.
What Side-Effects Can I Expect Following a Restylane Defyne Treatment?
Common side-effects related to Defyne treatments are mild and include swelling, bruising, and light bleeding. These side-effects can be controlled by following our guidance before and after treatment. These guidelines include avoiding blood thinning medications and alcoholic beverages before and after treatment. We also recommend avoiding excess sun exposure and heat after treatment in addition to taking a break from exercise for 24 hours after treatment. Cold packs can be used to help alleviate swelling.
